coffee filter Christmas wreath
Got a little DIY for you today! You may have seen these awesome wreaths on Pinterest. Well, this year we are on a very tight budget so I’m making everything I can which includes decorations and presents. This probably cost me $2-$3 to make. Can’t go wrong with that!
Most of the ones I seen are made using styrofoam but I think that styrofoam is a bit pricey. So I used a piece of foam core board. I usually would have opted to use white but I already had some left over black laying around. So I had to do a little extra filling in for more coverage.
First cut the board into a 16″ circle. Then cut out the middle, leaving about a 4″ edge leftover. (I didn’t worry about making the circle pretty since I’d be covering it up anyway.)
Pinch the coffee filter from the bottom center. (I didn’t make any specific folds.)
With the hot glue gun add a dime size glob of glue to the bottom of the filter where you pinched it. Place it close the edge, leaving 2″ of the filter hanging over.
Add more filters about 1″ apart all along the outer edge.
Add a second row inside of the first row.
Continue to fill in all the way around the middle.
I went as close as the middle edge as possible. Also, I looked for any gaps and added more filters where needed to fill them in.
For a more polished look trim the filters slightly where needed to make them even. I found that this is easiest using a large pair of very sharp scissors.
Add a delicious bow and hang it proud for all the world to see!

bloom 52 – week 27 – silhouette
This week was definitely a challenge for me since I’d never done a silhouette before…at least not on purpose. I got my daughter to help with this one. I changed the settings for her and she snapped the pic. I think that this is actually the first maternity picture I’ve had taken of this pregnancy. And even though my belly is the size of most women that are due to have their baby any day I actually still have a few months left. People’s mouths drop when I tell them that I’m not due until September. My babies like to be big, at least big for my size. Being only 5′ 1″ you’d think my kids would pop out at around six pounds…no way! The 8lbs, 8lbs 10 oz & 8lbs 12 oz…my smallest was 7lbs 8 oz and now she is taller than me! I’m already trying to prepare my husband that this one could be the biggest yet and I may not make it off of the couch the entire month of September…man, I’m tired just thinking about it!

bloom 52 – week 24 – father
In honor of Father’s Day this week’s theme is Father. I was hoping to find an old picture of my dad and I together but I didn’t have any luck. I did come across this pic of my husband and our son Lukas. He is such a good dad to them and it’s so cute how much they want to be like them. Hopefully this weekend I will have a chance to get a pic of hubby and all three of our boys.
Check out what Denise did for this week’s theme!

national clean your desk day…
was yesterday. Buuuuuut my desk is still clean, yay me! I even folded all of my fabrics. I didn’t even know that there was an official day for this but thanks to Willette I do now. (Go and check out her clean desk here.) I didn’t get a before shot so you will just have to assume that this is how my office normally looks.
Yet again I had to use my phone camera, my lens isn’t wide enough to shoot in my office. And yes I know, my office looks super drab and boring. Eventually I will hang the prints that ordered about 2 months ago.
